In this paper, Bacterial Foraging Optimization (BFO) algorithm, which emulates the behavior of E.coli bacteria is used to find the global minimum of a cost function by calculating in real time the active and reactive power references. Then, the estimated power references of the system, are used as input parameters for the developed predictive control strategy used to control the three-phase inverter. The behavior of the BFO and the predictive control are tested using Matlab/Simulink under load variation.
